|PDF Xtra for Director||Windows, Mac Classic (not for Mac OS X)||Downloading||2.2, 3.0, 7.0|
When PDF documents are downloaded from the Internet it may be time-consuming, depending on the size of the file and the speed of the Internet connection.
You may want to display a progress indicator to let the end-user know what's happening.
In PDF xtra 7.0, progress indicators can automatically be displayed when PDFs are downloaded. All you need to do is make sure the global option "Show Progress Bar" is checked in the PDF Xtra Member Options dialog box.
In previous versions of PDF Xtra, progress indicators had to be displayed by the developer using Lingo handlers. If you are using PDF Xtra version 2.2 - 3.x, please see the sample movie PDF Progress Bar, available below. It demonstrates how to create three necessary Lingo handlers, PDFBeginProgress, PDFProgress, and PDFEndProgress, to initialize, update and terminate a visual progress bar showing the percentage of the download completed.
This Director 7 movie runs on all platforms supported by PDF Xtra.
PDF Progress Bar: this sample runs on Director 7 and later.
