Answers

Question 1: Do I have to pay royalties or a per-project fee for using INM VizionDB?
Answer: Integration New Media’s one-time licensing fee enables you to use INM VizionDB royalty-free. Once you own a license for INM VizionDB, you can use it for as many projects as you wish.

Question 2: A business associate of mine is interested in evaluating INM VizionDB. What am I entitled to give him/her for the purpose of evaluation?
Answer: You can give away the INM VizionDB Xtra, the INM VizionDB Editor application, the INM VizionDB manuals, any sample movies provided on our web site, and other related files in as many copies as you wish, except for the license file (*.LIC) and the INM VizionDB license number.
Better yet, refer your business associate to http://www.INM.com for free downloads of INM VizionDB and related files.

Question 3: When I deliver my project to end-users, I need to place the INM VizionDB Xtra file in the Xtras folder. Won’t the end-user simply steal my INM VizionDB license?
Answer: No. The INM VizionDB Xtra works as a development tool and enables you to create new database structures only if it detects a license file on your machine. Otherwise, it works as a playback (runtime) tool for reading, writing and searching data. Your license number is encrypted in the INM VizionDB database you deliver. Thus, no one can steal it.

Question 4: I am working as a consultant for a client who will distribute (or sell, or give away) the project I am developing. Who needs to purchase a INM VizionDB license?
Answer: Both you and your client need a license for INM VizionDB. The only other alternative is for you to buy a license and permanently transfer your INM VizionDB license to your client when you deliver your project. Integration New Media must be notified of such permanent transfers. If you decide to transfer your license, you must make sure not to keep a copy of the registration number or the license file. An INM VizionDB license file can only be installed on ONE computer at a time.

Question 5: We are two employees of the same company working on a project involving INM VizionDB. Both of us need to create database structures and/or write scripts to call INM VizionDB methods. Do we both need INM VizionDB licenses?
Answer: Yes. You need two separate INM VizionDB licenses, unless you share the same computer. An INM VizionDB license file can only be installed on ONE computer at a time.

Question 6: I am working on a project involving INM VizionDB with other team members. However, in my role, I never need to create or modify database structures, nor do I write or modify INM VizionDB related scripts. Do I need an INM VizionDB license?
Answer:No. If you only need to view or modify the content (add/delete records) of a INM VizionDB file, no license is required.

However, all developers that need to create or modify a INM VizionDB file structure (e.g., adding/deleting tables), or write INM VizionDB-related scripts must have a separate INM VizionDB license, unless they are sharing one computer, which contains a valid license. An INM VizionDB license file can only be installed on ONE computer at a time.

Question 7: I developed a software tool that uses INM VizionDB and I want to make it available to colleagues and associates for use at authoring time. Must they also have INM VizionDB licenses?
Answer: Yes. Users of software that use INM VizionDB in an authoring environment must have INM VizionDB licenses.

Question 8: As a student, am I entitled to an educational license for INM VizionDB?
Answer: Yes, but you must conform to specific conditions. To obtain an educational license for INM VizionDB, you must agree to use INM VizionDB for educational purposes. This means that INM VizionDB is intended for use by students and faculty of educational institutions for non-commercial projects only. You can get more information on requirements for educational use in our online Store.

Question 9: Do I need to put the "Powered by INM VizionDB" logo on my product?
Answer: Yes, you must add "Portions of code are Copyright (c)1995-2006 Integration New Media, Inc." next to your own copyright notice. You must also place the "Powered by INM VizionDB" logo on the packaging of your product or within your product (in the Credits section, About box or equivalent location).
