Using RelativeToMovie PathType when authoring over network
Product:Platform:Area:Version:
Impressario for DirectorAllOpening PDFsAll

Summary

At authoring time, if you are accessing movies over a network and you set the PathType for your PDF document to RelativeToMovie, and your path looks like "\\machine\folder\file.pdf", Impressario will link to and open the PDF document. However, the path it stores internally will not be a valid format, so it will not be able to locate the PDF documents when you close and re-open the movie. This means it also will not find the PDF documents if you burn a CD containing your movie and PDF files.

Solution

You need to first Map a Network Drive to a network folder location that contains the movie. This makes the path look just like a local path. Impressario will then correctly interpret the RelativeToMovie path and you will have no problems when you relocate your project or burn a CD-ROM.
